Fabric / Scraps / Offcuts / Clothing for Upcycling

Hi there, I’m Michelle and I run a small creative business on the Blackall Range, specialising in handmade items. I am about to launch a deck of cards designed for self empowerment.

I create all of the product pouches from fabric offcuts and clothing which I upcycle, instead of using other packaging materials. Reusing and upcycling materials, and using discarded scraps instead of using new packaging or plastics are an important part of my personal and business life, and are easy ways I actively reduce landfill and waste on our beautiful planet.

I’m interested in brightly coloured fabric, fabric scraps and clothing. Torn or holes are OK as I can work around them but fabrics must be clean – no stains, chemicals or mould.

Any type of fabric is OK (no plastic) though I prefer natural fibres (cotton, hemp, wool, flax) as they align nicely with my business and with my personal values. Tops of long cosy socks, sleeves of shirts, legs of jeans are all useable.

Also if you have very small clean fabric scraps, fibre fill or even cotton thread offcuts from sewing you would normally throw away, collect them up as I can use these for filling 3D embroidery work.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you, fellow sustainabillies 🙂
